Mario's Friday

Hi Diary,

well another week has gone by and I am feeling more and more at home.  Let me tell you what happened this week.  We go for our walks every mornings usual.  It is my job to wake my Dad in the morning, and I do this by jumping across him and touching his face with my paw (very softly).  This wakes him up and then we have a cuddle which I enjoy.  I have to be patient then while he has a wash and then its off to the park.  The other morning I was tracking a blackbird and ran after him, guess what?  He stood still and didn't fly away.  I looked at my dad to see if he could help me but no the silly bird just sat there.  Well I can tell you that is no fun whatsoever.

I have this little chewy thing that I got given as a present in a  pet shop.  I like it so much I won't eat it.  I have now found the perfect hiding place.  My dad has a thing called a balcony which is covered in what looks like grass.  He also has some pots full with flowers and of course earth.  Well I found out I can bury my chew in there in the mornings and it is still there in the evenings.  I really enjoy it but I don't think dads flowers like it very much.  Still never mind.

Yesterday dad was at home all day and we went for quite a few walks. .  Today we did some more of Wals favourite (shopping) but I came away with a  few more presents.  They took me into a big pet shop and I had a look round, I picked some new dog food which I think I will like and Wal bought me a pigs ear with honey!!!  I wonder if that will fit in with the flowers?

Oh yes and I forgot, my dad went down town early this morning and when he came back I had a new collar (green) and a tax disc for me so I am now fully registered.  There was also a little tube with my name and address in it in case I get lost.  I look really smart now and they jingle when I walk.

I heard dad say that Wal is going out tonight and that Ken is coming round to keep dad company.  I only hope he doesn't try to tease me again tonight otherwise I may get angry.

MARIO'S SUNDAY REPORT

Hi Diary,

well today I have been here in Minden 1 month and I am enjoying it more and more each day.  My Dad says I have quietened down allot and I suppose I have but I still love to play and investigate things.  I have learnt one or two new tricks, like when I come back from a walk I go into the bathroom and jump into the bath to have my paws washed.  I also have a little ball with a bell inside, very soft and it jingles when it rolls.  I love this ball and can find it no matter where it is.  I can bring and drop it at Dads feet to let him throw it for me again.  We have such fun especially now that Dad is at home all day with me.

This morning we had a lovely long walk (weather is very nice) and when we got back we had breakfast together.  Afterwards my Dad put a plastic tablecloth over the balcony table, got my leash, muzzle brushes and comb.  He then lifted me onto the table put on my muzzle (not too keen on that still never mind I always get treat when I have worn it).  He then started to groom me as my fur is beginning to grow back again.  After a while I get to like it and relax.  He then cut the hair round my eyes and cleaned my eyes for me.  I must admit I looked really smart when he finished.  After he took my muzzle off I got some dog chocolate drops, and the guess what?  I rolled on the floor and made my hairdressing all a mess again, good eh?

Tomorrow I have to go back to see the lady doctor again about my rear end!  Not nice but still the girl who helps her is very pretty and always gives me cuddle!

This afternoon we are going out to a friend of my Dads who lives in the country.  we are going in the car (I love that).  As it is my birthday today (well 1 month anyway) I might even get a small piece of cake.

Tomorrow I am off to a big birthday party with Dad & Mum that should be fun and I can run around in Nina's garden.  Oh yes before I forget, when I was there the other day I broke Henry's football.  I just bit into it and it went down.  Mind you it is a lot easier to carry now that it is flat.

MARIO'S WEEK 5

Hi Diary

well week 5 has gone by and I am really settling in properly now.  I had a busy week this week but luckily enough Dad was with me all week and we had plenty of walks.

On Monday I went back to see the lady vet regarding my rear end.  Not very dignified I know but better to have it done.  This time I met the other girl who works in the practise and she is pretty as well.  After the Vet had done what she had to do (not very nice I may add) the two helpers gave me biscuit as a present.  I just couldn't wait to get of there but was polite and ate the biscuit first.

My Dad now has something in the back of the car to stop me jumping over the seats when he is driving.  It is a bit like a prison in the back but in his defence he did buy me a nice chequered blanket to lye on.

In the afternoon we went to another birthday party at Nina's.  There was lots to eat, cake and stuff. I stayed with little Justine as she is my special friend.  When she turned round to talk to someone I managed to steal the piece of cake off her plate very creamy and tasty!  Of course I got told off so I went into the garden and played ball for a little while.  when I came back in everyone had forgotten about it and everything was ok again.

On Tuesday we took Henry for a walk by the canal to see the boats and things.  There were lots of ducks but not near enough to chase so I decided to ignore them.  My old home near Dresden phoned and explained to dad what sort of operation I had on my eyes.  It was to do with the third eyelid that we dogs have which you humans don't and the gland needed sorting out.  My eyes are not so red anymore now.

We have had a couple of grooming sessions this week and my fur is looking very nice now.  It is not as long as it should be at the moment that will take time but when I am washed I look like a Persian Lamb all curly!!!

Last night I went with the family to a thing called the Royal British Legion.  It was in a  public house and there were other people there some of whom I have never met before.  Ken and Dita were there as were Dolly and Karin.  My Dad sat on a chair at the top table so, me being his dog, I sat on a chair next to him to watch what he was doing.  That got boring after a while so I decided to go around and see how many cuddles I could get from the various people in there.  I did quite well really.

We saw a lovely English relative of mine (English Cocker) in the park but she was gone before I managed to make myself known to her.  I will keep an eye out for her in the future.

Today had a lazy day, went for a long walk this morning and this afternoon.  Tried to get some of the pigeons in the park again but this lead certainly holds me up.  I sat and watched Dad eat, something they call False Rabbit (Meat loaf).  It looked very tempting but no matter how I rolled my eyes and whined I didn't get any.  There was me thinking I had my humans trained!!!!

Oh yes before I forget, my dad has made me a website on the internet.  My friends in the old home were really jealous of me that I am so famous!!!

Dear Diary

well another week has gone and I have been here in Minden six weeks now. Monday morning Dad got up earlier than usual, took me for a walk and had breakfast. He then dropped Wal and I off at Nina's and before I could look round he was gone in the car on his own!!! Boy did I get worried I cried nearly all morning! Then in the evening the door bell rang and he was home again I was so happy I was jumping in summersaults. It would seem that his holiday is over and he is back to work again which means he leaves me with Wal during the day. I think I will get into the routine of this again.

Tuesday I had a bit of fun with Wal. Wal had made breakfast and was sitting down when the doorbell rang. I went with her to answer the door (to protect her of course), it was the neighbour from upstairs (Hilde). I like Hilde so I shook paws with her, licked her hand and whilst she and Wal were talking went back quickly into the front room and had one of Wals sandwiches!!! Wal told me off (of course) and I gave her my guilty look (very effective in cases like these) and she forgave me. The door bell went again, off we went it was Hilde again she had forgotten something. I shook her paw again and remembered the remaining sandwich in the front room. Well what should a Cocker do??? I ran quickly back into the front room, ate the sandwich and then hid under the table!!!! I thought I should look guilty before she came into the room this time so I did. Obviously she scolded me again and then I heard her talking down this thing called a telephone. I think she was telling my Dad because I could hear his laugh!

I have been having trouble with my ears all week the keep itching so on Friday afternoon we went back to the lady vet. We were first there and we sat in the waiting room. Dad had me on a short lead and there was this cat wandering around without a lead. He sat in front of me and just stared at me, very unnerving I can tell you. Then in came a couple of other humans with cats!! I was the only dog. I was glad when the Doctor called my name. I was lifted up onto the table and my Dad held my head whilst the doctor checked my ears. I she said I had an ear infection and poured some liquid in my ears, I did not like that one bit so I showed her that I can growl and snarl like a proper dog. Would you believe it, the pretty girl who helps her got a thing called a muzzle and tied it over my jaws!!! I thought she liked me! The doctor then started to clean out my ears and put some ointment down them. I really do not like this procedure. It didn't take me long to leave the practise I can tell you! we all went shopping then and in the evening they took me to Nina. Wal stayed in the car and dad took me in. Nina went into the kitchen I followed of course, Nina shut the door. I heard the front door go and when I got the kitchen door open dad was gone. Was I upset??? Was I ever! I scratched the door and cried for about an hour (human time). I couldn't rest at all and kept waking up. Then when it was rally dark and late, the door bell rang and Dad came in. I was so relieved to see him. We went home and I didn't let them out of sight for a while just in case they left again.

Saturday we did the usual thing out for few things. dad then took me to the park, but this time it was different. He bent down and took the lead off me. I was free to run around on my own and do what I liked. I could see he was worried so I kept running back to him to make sure he knew he wasn't alone. He kept whistling me and telling me to 'come here' so of course I did as I was told (even though there were better things to do like chase birds). It was such fun and of course why should I run away from him, I love living with him. After a while chasing the ball and the birds and rolling in the grass, he called me and we practised walking together but without a lead. I must admit (if I say so myself) I am very good at it. The scents on the floor are very inviting but I do behave (most of the time).

When we got home it was bath time!!! Mind you I needed it badly I had rolled in something that wasn't very nice and had a rather strong smell about me. Dad bathed me, dried and brushed me till I was all fluffy. Then out came a muzzle and he did my ears. I was very restless but I know he wouldn't hurt me so I gave in gracefully in the end. The itching has started to wear off now so it must be doing me good.

Today we were up early, it is raining. Dad had a cup of tea, and then we went for a walk in the park. I was longing to get there and as soon as we were he let me go again, it was HEAVEN!!! The grass was wet, it had been cut there  were smells everywhere. In true Coker fashion I searched the park up and down. I tracked the birds but the moment I found one on the floor he must have me coming because it flew away! I am sure these discs on my collar give me away you know! Dad then told me to sit, which I did and then said stay. I stayed still and dad walked away from me. I wanted to run after him but he had said stay so I didn't move. He then turned and called me and I ran to him, my ears flapping and my fur flying, what a feeling.

Hello diary

well been an up and down week this week. I have been enjoying myself allot in the park, running on my own and cashing the birds. My favourite game is playing with a tennis ball. My Dad throws it, I run after it and then stand by it and wait until my dad catches up to me lol I know I should really take the ball back to him but then again I am doing something for his health helping him loose weight and getting some exercise. I mean I don't need it I am fit already.

Really warm weather here at the moment and I prefer to stay at home and relax in the shade rather than go for long walks. Dad takes me in the early morning and then later at night when the sun is not so hot.

Dad had some more holiday from work so we have been spending allot of time together it was really nice. He then took me out shopping and bought me another new lead(leash), this time leather in green to match my collar. Looks really smart and I don't think I ill be able to chew thought this one as fast as I did the others.

I met some more of the family this week from a big city down south in Germany. I was pleased to see them and then all of a sudden the lady touched my sore ear so I told her not to. I didn't bite her honest it was just a nip but she was very upset and so was her little daughter. No-one told me off though I mean it wasn't really my fault. I saw them again the other day but they never touched me and the little girl kept on crying so I suppose she is afraid of me now. Still the other little girl Justine still loves me.

I went to the doctors again yesterday and she looked in my ears. The right one is all cleared up but the left one is still sore. I really don't like it when they put a muzzle on me though and it makes me really angry. I wish I could remember why I am so temperamental about my ears, the doctor says I must have had a bad experience whatever that is. I let my Dad touch my ears though as he is gentle. He gets a warm cloth and washes them and then he dries them and puts ointment on his finger, he then manages to get the ointment in my ear. It tickles so much sometime my back leg begins to shake. He does all of this without a muzzle as well, why on earth doesn't the doctor learn from him?

I am really enjoying myself now though and that is the truth. My dad bought me some nice chicken meat and cooked it for me, now that was really lovely meal, better than these hard food!
